Material Partnership between Rapid Shape and Kulzer – for Best Results in 3D Printing

Two innovative companies are working in partnership to advance the possibilities in 3D printing. Rapid Shape‘s customers can choose from a library of over 200 materials for their high-quality 3D printers, with confidence in a safe working process. New materials are being added all the time. According to the motto „Best 3D printer and best material for very best results“, Kulzer materials can now also be used for a validated workflow. „The cooperation between Rapid Shape and Kulzer has developed in a very pleasant way over the years. I am happy about many great opportunities for our customers resulting from the now concluded material partnership,“ said a delighted Andreas Schultheiss, CEO of Rapid Shape. “We are very proud of our partnership with Rapid Shape,” says Dr. Sascha Cramer von Clausbruch, CTO at Kulzer. “The validation of our dima® Print materials is an important milestone, offering customers a wide range of applications with ideal properties for dental indications, such as high printing speed, convincing precision, heat resistance and natural color. Our materials have therefore been thoroughly tested by the dental experts at Rapid Shape and Kulzer.”

Kulzer materials validated for Rapid Shape 3D printers

The first Kulzer materials have now been validated by both partners on Rapid Shape devices and added to the extensive material library. Initially, it is dima® Print Stone beige, a solid material that could almost be mistaken for traditional beige dental plaster. The material is suitable for everyday laboratory requirements, meaning 3D printing of almost all types of dental models, including high-precision models for dental implants. Further, dima® Print Stone gray has been included, a neutral material that resembles gray dental plaster, making it an excellent choice for dental technicians with the highest aesthetic demands. It provides a perfect background veneering with ceramics and staining. For orthodontists, Kulzer has developed dima® Print Stone teal. The calm color makes the material comfortable during processing – from dental wire bending to fast aligner production. In addition, the high heat resistance makes thermoforming easy. The material is hard, matt and easy to grind. dima® Print Stone Gingiva mask is flexible, tear-resistant and silicone-free. At the same time it is very precise, i.e. a material for realistic gingival masks with visible contours and emergence profiles. The improved workflow in implant dentistry is a pleasure for the user.

3D printers and post-processing equipment from Rapid Shape make the workflow perfect

For high-precision results in additive manufacturing, it comes down to the best technology. This is where Rapid Shape offers perfect solutions with its user-friendly, intelligent 3D printers post-processing devices. The devices are equipped with a UV light source with a wavelength of 385nm. At the same time, the superior DLP exposure technology ensures precise and process-stable exposure of every single layer, day after day. Rapid Shape thus avoids unwanted discoloration, which can occur with visible light sources of 405nm. Furthermore, uncontrolled heating of the material is avoided. All devices are connected online and make the workflow in the daily work of a lab safe. But of course, perfect results are only achieved with the application of a suitable material. „It is of great concern to us to certify only the best materials from renowned manufacturers for our 3D printers. That is why we are delighted about the new partnership with Kulzer,“ adds Andrea Kern, Head of Lab at Rapid Shape.
